Katarina Andersson (b. 1990, Södertälje) is a visual artist based in Stockholm who primarily works in oil on canvas. She works figuratively, often with bold colours and organic shapes. The paintings are filled with symbolism and open up windows to a surreal world where the focus is on the animals point of view. Katarina is interested in storytelling, and to find alternative and overlooked perspectives. Lately she has explored this by challenging anthropocentrism and letting animals be main characters in her work. The paintings illustrate the twistedness of the world, but also include something magical and hopeful. She is fascinated by symbolism and how objects can be read completely differently, depending on the setting and the viewer’s point of view. 

Katarina is currently studying the Bachelor’s programme in Fine Art at Konstfack, Stockholm.

Katarina is a member of Best Before Collective, Husby Konst- och Hantverksförening and Beyond Artisan.
